Thames Estuary 2100

The TE2100 project was established in 2002 as a joint project between the three regions Southern, Anglian and Thames and is now one of a number of major projects that form part of the Thames Estuary Programme. Thames Estuary 2100 (TE2100) is an Environment Agency project that aims to develop a tidal flood risk management plan for the Thames estuary till the end of the century.

The final plan will predict the sea level rises we will face, due to climate change and will give recommendations for what  flood risk management measures will be required in the estuary and where they will be needed. The plan will take into account the increasing flood risk due to:
- climate change
- rising sea levels
- natural ageing of flood defence infrastructure
- changes in land levels
- new development in the tidal flood plain.
