Storm surge Zuiderzee
On january 13. and 14. 1916 a flood occured in the Zuiderzee area.
A storm surge combined with peak discharges in the rivers resulted in high water levels. On dozens of locations dike bursts took place.
The 1916 flood iniated the flood warning service, the Zuiderzee works and stimulated the plans for the building of the Afsluitdijk.
