1st Sand nourishment
In the year 1972 at the west coast of Sylt the first sand nourishment took place. Since then altogether 30.17 millions m3 sand with total costs 115 millions Euros was applied. Emphasis lied and lies on the island ends. In Westerland sand nourishment already took place in 1963.
Altogether on Foehr so far 3.33 millions m3 sand for approximately 12 millions Euros were applied.
The protection of the west coast of Sylt by sand nourishment, implies
high costs.
